Hungry Hill

Hungry Hill is a five-piece acoustic bluegrass unit with a focus on original material. Based in northwestern Canada, Hungry Hill features lush vocal harmonies resonating from three singers around one microphone, and the powerful individual delivery of voice and instrument.

One of the rising stars of bluegrass music, Jenny Lester is a dynamic stage performer and recording artist who has established herself as an important young singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Says John P. McLaughlin of the Vancouver Province, "She has Kentucky bluegrass growing up and down her spine. An amazing singer, writer and player, she really, truly gets it."

Producer/musician Bob Hamilton is based in Whitehorse, Yukon. Bob has been honoured with four Juno nominations, and one Juno award for albums he has produced. Bob is a multi-instrumentalist as well as a songwriter. He is the owner of the Yukon’s premiere recording studio, Old Crow Recording, and co-owner of Caribou Records.

Mark Thibeault has recorded with the Grapes of Wrath, performed with Kevin Kane, Kim Beggs, Anne Louise Genest and the Undertaking Daddies. He brings life, texture and emotional intensity to songs whether bluegrass, folk, or western swing. Mark is also a talented luthier and co-owner of Rayco Resophonics.

Hailing from the state of Alaska where he was born and raised, Gary Markley is one of the most hard driving banjo players you will ever hear. Gary is also a great tenor singer and has played with almost every bluegrass musician in Alaska. He is the real deal. Born and raised in a musical family on the East coast of Quebec, Nadine Landry has called Whitehorse her home for six years now. Actively involved in the Yukon music scene she sings and/or plays upright bass in various bands ranging from honky tonk to jazz and bluegrass. Nadine has performed at most festivals in Northern Canada and Alaska.

Jenny Lester is a dynamic bluegrass performer and recording artist who has established herself as an important singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Jenny's prodigious talent is superbly displayed on her debut CD, Friends Like You, of critical and popular acclaim.
