Down To The Wood

Down to the Wood is an Alberta-based bluegrass band that
plays music the old fashioned way, coming together around one
microphone to sing and play together. They play a mix of
straight ahead traditional songs, instrumentals, and
a-cappella numbers, as well as original interpretations of
songs not normally associated with the bluegrass genre.
The band has been playing for over eight years, playing at
bluegrass festivals, folk clubs, concerts and house parties.
They have been featured on A-channel’s “The Big Breakfast” and
CFRN TV’s “Good Morning Canada”.
Band Members include:
Glen Hoffart – Bass, vocals Glen plays a variety of musical
instruments but it is on the bass that he makes his mark with
Down to the Wood. Glen’s distinctive driving bass playing and
solid vocals is the glue that holds the band’s traditional sound
together.
Marc Ladouceur – Guitar, mandolin, and vocals Marc has played
in a variety of genres and brings all these different flavours
into the band mix. Marc sings the high lonesome parts and solo’s
on the guitar and mandolin with ease and precision, which
elevates the Down to the Wood sound enough to allow them to
perform with only the 3 members.
Curtis Appleton - Banjo, guitar and vocals Curtis has played
music as long as he can remember and decided the 5-string banjo
was his calling. His vocals, banjo and guitar add to the sparse
mix to blossom the Down to the Wood energy and excitement.
